We will be drawing the winner from our fair drawing for our second annual Autumn Magical Forest session.

These are perfect sessions for kids ideally ages 3 to 10 but we can, and do, make exceptions!  Once every 6 to 8 weeks we turn our studio into a magical forest for fairies and fishermen. You may have seen our image that won a blue ribbon at the fair, of the two fishermen boys. Yep, that’s our Magical Forest! It’s too much fun! The kids love it, the parents love it and we love it!

Stay tuned to see who the lucky winner is. And as a bonus, we will be offering the $19.99 fair special to those who entered in the drawing as long as you book by Sept 10th. After that we will be offering the session for our regular price of $49.99. This sale price does include a 5×7, so this is a steal! We will not be offering this price again anytime soon, so don’t miss out! You can call us at 435-452-1952 to book your appointment. Come and Join us!

VanKomen Family Portraits

August 24, 2010

This fun family came to us from a friend’s referral. We love that! I happen to love this family portrait, I’m hoping they do too! It is definitely family season. This even prompted me to tell my own offspring that it was time to get together for a family portrait. We are giving away a family session during the Box Elder  County Fair, come and add your name to the drawing.

Thank you to the VanKomens! Here is a sneak peak, we will get in touch with you when we get the rest set up for you to view!  – Shelley

Last week we had the opportunity to photograph a team of extra cute girls, the Ogden High School Cheerleaders. We had a great time and the new addition to the school is looking pretty amazing! Thanks to Tory for giving us a call to bring our gear over and spend the morning/afternoon in Ogden. It was a great day and there are some killer images to come!

Shayley and her cuteness came in for an indoor/outdoor senior session with us. She cheers for Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah.  We locked onto her “pimped out” zebra car and knew we had to get a fun image of it with her, no doubt. Zebra phone included. It turned out to be a recent favorite of mine and it will be highlighted in a handout we have for the Box Elder County Fair.

Great images here! We had a great time! Thanks Shayley! Talk to you soon!

Come and see us at the Box Elder County Fair this year. We will be in building #3. We will be displaying our work and giving away great prizes. We will also be having an exclusive sale or two that you can only buy during our booth at the fair. Stop by and say hi!

Not to be confused with our high school senior models we aquire every year. We have now branched out to begin helping aspiring stars with their model portfolios. We’ve came up with a creative concept that we’ve compiled after years of learning and instruction. Our idea is to help you create a high end portfolio with amazing images.

Packages range from the basic essentials to adding to your portfolio to helping you build a portfolio from scratch. This will get you digital images for your online portfolio, as well as prints and/or zen cards. It’s all up to what you want to do! And of course you will be highlighted on our website as well.

All model packages come with make-up and hair by Sami Rose.

Here is a sneak peak of what we have in mind! This is only the beginning! We have big plans with this. We look forward to building our portfolio while you build yours.

Thanks to Robyn for coming in and playing! This was a great session!

Sometimes you just have to work on a technique, try a thing or two, give back, and step out of the box to continue to grow as a photography business. We have something fun set up with a group of students and we need some models – we are probably looking at the month of September. The catch is: We only bring in people who have been to us before. That’s our way of saying *thanks*.  For this job, we are looking for females who are late teens and older. We will reward you with a couple of websized images for your facebook or blog. If you want prints, those will cost extra.

Interested? You need to email your name and number to Shelley @ shelley@steveharrington.net for more details.

You read that right! Your fun factoid of the month would be Kersten’s story. It all started with a phone call from a girl from Alaska. We said, “You do realize we are in Utah, right?” She said, “Yes, I have family in Spanish Fork that we are visiting and I want to get my senior portraits taken while I’m there.”  The story continues that she searched the internet for a photographer and came across us. Our favorite line from her goes like this: “I saw your site first, then started going down the line clicking on other photography sites, but – your work set the bar really high and I kept coming back to your website and decided to call you first.” …. I love this girl!! 😀

So, she drove from Spanish Fork and spent the afternoon with us. We did our studio/outdoor session with her. We are so happy she did! She’s a doll and we got some great pictures of Kersten of the Alaska clan!

Thank you Kersten! We are back home and working on your images, we will be getting in touch with you soon!

Lisa and her bestie, Trixie came by for some outdoor senior portraits. Two of the sweetest girls we’ve met! Lisa also happens to be a great swimmer on the varsity swim team at Bear River High School. We were happy to meet them on the most perfect day and we got some great images, images that we can’t wait to share with them!

So a big warm “thanks” goes out to Trixie, Elisabeth and mom for hiring us for such a great job! We will see you soon!

It’s been a fun adventure! We knew we’d be busy people by scheduling 3 workshops so close together. But it’s not such a bad thing when you happen to be doing that which you love! We are fortunate people and will be the first to admit it!

Our last workshop took place in an old German settlement colony in Bethel, Missouri. Here is a fun factoid – I realized once we were there that we were not far from Navoo Illinois. I know a bunch of Utahans make that journey to visit the temple there. If this is on your planned list, I encourage you to take a trip through Bethel and stay at the Inn Harmony there. I could not believe how wonderful that bed and breakfast was. It was like traveling through a time machine. Inn Harmony – 1-660-651-2718.  The rate is $20/person/night and it includes a stocked kitchen to make your own breakfast. They have a kitchen as well and some rooms share a common bathroom. Your kids would love it! We had so much fun sitting out on the porch, talking shop while watching fireflies and possums!  (That doesn’t happen in Utah!) There is also a great buffet in Heartland just down the road. One of the best I’ve been to!

So anyway, the workshop went great. We had plenty of senior aged models to help us with the days we shot. Here are some samples from the workshop. We will add more to this gallery as they come along.

It’s good to be home and back to our studio and local clients! Give us a call if we can help you with anything. 435-452-1952

Thanks for reading our blog! – Shelley
