Time for some one-on-one education on the subject of professional photography! Here’s some good information to sink your teeth into. Are you ready?

One of the biggest fallacies that bothers Steve the most would be the comment, ‘But Steve is so expensive…” Now, I don’t want this to sound like we are turning on the defensive, more-so I want to type out a few points for those who may react too quickly. The fact that we hear the above comment from people who have never even been to us, leaves a big assumption on their part. Now granted, we aren’t for everyone. If we were for everyone, we’d be really busy doing a lot of work for nothing. A wise man once told me, “If they aren’t complaining about prices, your not charging enough…”

This is what we do for a living… and we also know our marketing area. Residing in Northern Utah is a great place to be! And even better is our small town living that we love so much! If we were to price ourselves out of this region completely, we would not be doing this for full-time for very long. We have no doubt we could move to a larger town to demand higher prices, but the payoff of small town living (and a great community and good friends) keeps us grounded. Part of being a professional photographer is knowing your market limitations and strengths. We have found the level playing ground where we can be more “exclusive” without breaking the bank and keeping our clients 100% satisfied. It’s our guarantee. A good guarantee goes hand-in-hand with a working as a professional. Ethical business practices should be a no-brainer as well.

We love being exclusive to those who appreciate our work, we also invite a larger audience in with sales on a constant basis to those who like our work but may not feel they can afford us. Although we know we aren’t for everyone, we still like to try to make everyone happy! But you also can’t expect cheap (or shoddy) work from an award winning photographer who also happens to speak on this subject nationally. So take advantage of our giveaways and discounts when you can!

If you want to know how we really operate, ask a client of ours, not an assuming bystander. We tend to build life long relationships with clients. We are 100% confident that our clients ‘have our back.’ That speaks volumes as a professional photographer, don’t you think?

Have questions? Call us! We can answer you, talk to you about our job, our business, and your requests! Our studio is by appointment only, feel free to call and come in and look through our samples. We love what we do!

Thanks for reading and keep coming back to our blog!!

Hi gang! Every year we are so happy with our models, and this year is no exception, we have a talented group of girls from cowgirl to crooner! We are so lucky!

In no particular order, here are all of our models in a glance for the Class of 2012 senior season. We’ve had a great time so far, and we are looking forward to a fun summer! A few of these girls have already been worn out by us as they earned positions to be our models for our annual workshop. Amazing images have come from that weekend, if you haven’t seen them, you can revisit that link HERE. The models also have another chance to earn products from us through referrals, etc through the year. The next activity we have going on starts on July 1! We will be putting each of these images on Facebook and the model with the most “likes” will win herself a composite valued at over $500.00! Along with that, the model with the most comments under her image will win herself a free 11×14 portrait print, which has a starting value of $100!.

So what do you have to do to help your friend or model win?

#1 – LIKE OUR BUSINESS PAGE ON  FACEBOOK

#2 – Make sure you find the right picture album as we are only keeping track on these Black and White Images, even though you may see their faces around our Facebook page. We will only count the likes and comments on these 2012 model headshots.  CLICK HERE FOR THE ALBUM

#3 – LIKE your favorite model(s). You can like as many as you want!

#4 – Leave a nice comment of our girls on their image!

# 5- Tell a friend!

Check back and keep up with who is marketing themselves the best! We know summer gets busy and people will go on vacations for 2 week stints, so what we are going to do is leave this open until July 29th. Aug 1st is when we will announce the 2 top girls. (Or 1 girl even has the chance to take it all.)

Our models have exclusive referral offers to give you, all you have to do is ask them about it and then call us. You’ll need to tell us they referred you on first contact with us.

Thanks girls! – Shelley

The summer sale is on, it’s by far our most favorite time of year! Stay cool with the best senior portraits around! Senior portrait season has begun. Maybe you are sad that you didn’t hit one of our super early sales, but don’t worry there is still time in July to save money on terrific and professional senior portraits. Class of 2012  Book your session in July and receive half off your session fee and buy one get one free wallets. Your portraits will be taken in July and you’ll have plenty of time to pick your favorite image for your yearbook (school restrictions may apply.) This is a great way to get it out of the way before your crazy senior school year starts, yet give us plenty of time to come with something creative and custom for you! July is one of our most favorite months to shoot too! It’s warm, the weather is stable, and suntans are natural. Most of our award winning shots have been taken in July!… just sayin’…

Every year we get senior who are wanting to wait for spring of their senior year. We’ve done this long enough to know that this is usually a bad idea for something as important as senior portraits.

Here’s why!

– ‘Spring’ usually doesn’t happen until June in Utah. You will be gambling with making appointments during an unstable weather season.

-You will be lucky to book with a professional photographer in the late spring with time to spare. If you want outdoor included in your portraits, there are only so many sunny days we can work with before we run out of time.

Some people have it in their heads that they will change their senior year and they want to wait until the last minute to get senior portraits taken.  We have a solution for that, get your senior images taken early and if you feel like you have changed that much in the spring, we will do a mini-session for you for $75. To date, no one has taken us up on that offer.

Trust yourself to us, we are professionals and we will take good care of you and leave you 100% happy. It’s a guarantee we have carried from the beginning!

What are you waiting for? Call today! 435-452-1952 Call us as soon as you can, our bookings are filling and we’d like to be able to accommodate you busy people with packed schedules.

Here in a few minutes, Hanna and her mom will be coming back in for their sales session for Hanna’s Class of 2011 senior portraits. With graduation just around the corner, we are glad they booked us! Hanna came in for an outdoor and studio session. The weather gave us grief that day, but we made it work and Hanna has some beautiful images to prove it! Hanna has been a Cheerleader for the Bear River High School Bears, and is now on her way to graduation. We are excited for her. Congratulations to you, thanks for coming in and we loved taking your senior portraits!

Here we have Sadie. We are happy to have her join us for our Class of 2012 adventure. She’s already showed us her texting skills amongst friends. She told us she’s going to Wendover with us to model during the workshop, and we hope she does!

Sadie is a soon -to-be senior at Bear River High School here in Garland. We appreciate Tia’s connection with her to get her in here! (Shout out to Tia!) We are having a great time working with her. You’ll be seeing more of her on our blog as well as our Facebook business page.

If  you know Sadie, and you are wanting some terrific senior portriats for the Class of 2012, you need to talk to her so she can use you as a referral. This is is what gets her to Wendover, so we are helping to spread the word for her, as well as all of our models.

If you would like to use Sadie as a referral and you are Class of 2012 – you can also text keyword SHPsadie  and your full name to 77007. This will get her the referral once you book with us and pay the nonrefundable deposit. We have all the details if you want to call, whether you want to opt in on being a model for us or if you just want early savings for your senior portraits that we can take at the end of summer. We have you covered. Our models will get you the best deal out there.

Thanks Sadie and Sharon for a fun session! We will be talking soon!

A favorite of mine:

Here is the updated information you need as far as being an aspiring Steve Harrington Photography model for the class of 2012  -OR-  if you are simply looking for the best pricing for your 2012 senior portraits, read below. All model and lock in rates will expire on June 1st, 2011. Please read carefully then call with questions, we hopefully have everything spelled out right here.

If you are interested in early senior savings for your senior portraits:

Right now we are offering a sale like nothing we have done before, so we urge you to take advantage of it!  Talk to your parents, they will appreciate the savings. Trust us. If it is your plan to have your senior portraits taken by us, you can lock in an early savings price by buying -in with a $50 deposit. This will give you a free session fee and the $50 will directly be applied to your order. This does not mean you have to have your senior portraits taken right now. This will lock in your price and we can have your official senior portrait session later in the summer.  You do not have to worry about paying anything else until it’s time for your senior portraits! You may want to book in time to get a unique yearbook shot if your school allows it. Again, this is an exclusive offer that will expire on June 1, 2011. After that time, we will go back to our regular session fees and pricing.

You will need to have your session booked no later than the early Fall of 2011. This is part of the “free session” deal we have set up for you. Plus if you are paying attention to the weather, you will see that wanting to wait for your senior portraits in the spring of your senior year is a large gamble. We have been doing this long enough to know we do not see steady weather until later in May and at that point, it’s crunch time if you want to hire a quality photographer.  This free session offer will only last until June 1st. You can either talk to one of our models listed below if they are your friend and you’d like to give them the referral credit, or you can contact us directly about it at 435-453-1952. Call us or text us, there is no pressure here, we are happy to answer questions. We do have minimum orders set in place, but we have something that should fit everyone that is interested in getting senior portraits through us. We love what we do, we are good at it and we’d love to have you as a client!

If you are interested in being a model:

Time is running out, but we always have room for more! So yes, we are still looking for 2012 senior models, specifically in neighboring schools like Box Elder High in Brigham, Ogden, Logan, Malad and other areas. Being a senior model is a fun experience and you will have more images than you will know what to do with. We have a fun, fresh program that will get you perks, or if you just want to get in early for some spring bonuses, we’ve got something for everyone. This is not a free modeling experience, we do require minimum orders from our models. This does not mean you have to  have your senior portraits taken this early, we will just have mini-sessions until you are ready for your senior portraits in your senior year. We are constantly looking for models for various projects, our senior models get first dibs when something comes our way. One of the biggest perks we have is our annual Utah workshop in June where you are the model!  We are taking our hardest working senior models with us. We start to prepare for this in the early spring, this is one of the reasons we start looking for 2012 seniors early. We also like to use the incoming seniors on our marketing materials. Come early and this will be you! Promise!

You can be a model, help a friend be a model, or join in with your friends to work towards sharing our Utah Senior Workshop experience together! Our lowest possible pricing is right now, we will be moving the prices up as the year progresses. Don’t let the early deadlines scare you, if you plan to get your senior portraits taken with us during your senior year anyway, this is a program for you! Right now, $50 will get you started with a mini session, and every cent goes back into your senior portraits!!

Click on our Model Application to start the process if you’d like to be a model! We are going to have a great year! OR as stated above, if you are only interested in early savings – contact us or one of our models if you’d like to lock in your price early. This will save you up to $100. Again, talk to your parents, they are welcome to call with questions. No pressure.
